This great poem was read out in Episode 343

John’s Poem: One Consequence of Salvation (I hope)

Love, a few long decades ago, rescued me
Each pilgrim mile; walked slow, or brisk;
Saw many attempts of mine fail miserably
Safe in my comfort zone: avoiding risk

Of course — this sitting-in-a-pew man is a
Flawed and inconsistent bumbling human.
A slow growing one: permanent ‘L’ plates on.
Deciding to attempt life more simply, humbly;
In service of my neighbourhood and friends.
Caring for outsiders – still imperfect, stumbly;
Kindness spurs me on. Love, never, ever ends.
