Staying Defiantly – The Conversation

12.00pm Thurs 18th – 4.00pm Fri 19th April 2024

What?
Good friends Dave Steell and Joe Davis are holding a conversation for church leaders over 2 days in April 2024 in Brighton. The aim is to provide a supportive and safe space to discuss issues of faith for leaders and the churches they are leading within. We’ll have some moments of input to stimulate the discussion, but the aim is to enjoy each other’s company and see what we can learn from one another, it might even be quite fun!

Why?
Churches are struggling to hold together over issues of human sexuality, biblical interpretation and the exclusive claims of the Christian faith, and in the midst of this many leaders feel their faith morphing and changing as they seek a more authentic way of living. In this emerging context, how do we lead through our own theological dissonance and uncertainty, whilst living out the honesty of what God might be doing within us?

Where?

We’ll have confirmed details soon, but some of our time will be at One Church Brighton.

Who’s it for?
Any leader whose faith has been experiencing a change (what some call ‘deconstructing’) and who want to explore these issues in a safe, supportive and positive environment. We want to also acknowledge that leadership in the local church is broad and these feelings of instability are just as real for volunteer leaders as they are for the clergy, so if you feel you have any responsibility and these issues resonate with you, then we’d love to have you with us.

How Much?
We are suggesting a £60 donation. This is not at all mandatory, if you can’t afford this please come anyway!. Please note this DOES NOT include food or accommodation. You will have to provide and book this yourself. We can make recommendations if you require them.
